Overlapping entitlement with pension age benefits
The rules relating to overlapping entitlement of pension age benefits and universal credit when mixed-age couples form and when a claimant reaches state pension age are set out in the Universal Credit (Transitional Provisions) Regulations 2014 (SI.No.1230/2014).

In Northern Ireland, the Universal Credit (Transitional Provisions) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2016 (SR.No.226/2016) (as amended by SR.No.119/2020) include provisions relating to run-ons of pension age benefits for newly formed mixed-age couples that are equivalent to those made in Great Britain.
