Work search and work availability requirements suspended

The rules for suspending work search and work availability during the COVID-19 outbreak are set out in the Social Security (Coronavirus) (Further Measures) Regulations 2020 (SI.No.371/2020).

Work search and work availability requirements

​Regulations 6 of SI.No.371/2020

Provides that work search and work availability requirements are not imposed for a period of 3 months from 30 March 2020 (which may be extended) as a consequence of the coronavirus outbreak.

SR.No.53/2020 makes provision in Northern Ireland equivalent to that in Great Britain in relation to the suspension of work search and work availability requirements.

Changes to jobcentre appointments

​DWP advises that people receiving benefits do not have to attend jobcentre appointments for at least three months, starting from 19 March 2020.
